10 activities to do if you think you've seen it all in Seville

Seville is an endless city. Every corner, every street, holds a destination waiting to be visited. Beyond its priceless old town, there are many places that bring culture and leisure to visitors. In this blog we will discuss a handful of sites and activities that every tourist should try in order to say that they have made the most of their time in Seville.

1) The Museum of Flamenco Dance (Calle Manuel Rojas Marcos), is the only one of its kind in the world. Flamenco is more than just an expression of dance and singing, it is one of the pillars to the culture of Seville. In order to understand and feel this it is necessary to go to this centre, located in an 18th century building. There, visitors can enjoy a modern and agile museum of photographs, paintings, sculptures and video projections, as well as live performances in its central outdoor courtyard.

2) Beyond the Guadalquivir, the Triana neighborhood awaits your visit with open arms it. It is an ideal place to lose yourself in the cultural life of Seville. The chapel of the Sailors (Calle Pureza, 52), headquarters of the Brotherhood of Hope of Triana, is only one of many destinations to visit in this neighborhood. A neighbourhood where so many illustrious people from Seville have been born and raised, such as Rodrigo de Triana (crewman who sighted the New World), the bullfighter Gitanillo de Triana or the dancer Antonio Canales.

3) Whether in Triana or anywhere else in Seville, it would be a sin to leave this city without tasting a delicious Serranito. Under this jocular name is hidden a dish of the typical gastronomy that with such a simple recipe conquers the palate of all those who try it. It is not a gourmet dish and its recipe may seem simple and austere but with just one piece of Andalusian bread, one loin of fillet, one slice of Serrano ham and one fried pepper you will feel that you are enjoying a delicacy of the Sevillian gods.

4)
When you leave the Triana district, at the foot of its historical bridge, you will find the Castle of San Jorge (on the lower part of the Triana Bridge), where the Museum of the Inquisition is located. This space, which for 300 years served as a bastion where the Inquisition seized those considered heretics, now houses a museum detailing this dark chapter in the history of Seville. Despite the dreary nature of the subject, you will not find any instruments of torture or unpleasant samples of this past there. On the other hand, you will be able to walk around the castle's rooms with an explanation of the events that took place over the years. The visitors can then use their imagination to recall and reflect on how the people of Seville have advanced since the darkest years of their past.

5) Without straying too far from our destination and without it being a cultural activity that enriches our knowledge, we can also enjoy Seville in a uniquely special way. The banks of the River Guadalquivir, which can be seen from the Triana Bridge, invite us to lie down on its lawn and let ourselves be immersed in the wonderful landscape and the phenomenal weather that characterizes this city. Surrounded by a youthful and lively atmosphere, it is the ideal place to rest before continuing our adventures.

6) Another green space in Seville is the American Garden (Camino de los Descubrimientos, Cartuja). Almost five kilometers across the banks of the River Guadalquivir, under the shade of various trees such as white poplars, ash trees and poplars, visitors will be able to walk and contemplate more than 150 different species of flowers and plants. If the climate of Seville is too much for you, here you will have a corner where you can take advantage of the shade and tranquility that nature offers.

7) Without going too far from the American Garden we find the Monastery of La Cartuja, which houses the Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art. In its galleries we can enjoy various art exhibitions, with over 3,000 works from the 1950s up to the present day. Likewise, its courtyard is a space where musical events are usually held that bring together the most relevant artists from the independent Spanish and international music scene.

8) Fun awaits in the large water and amusement park of Seville, Isla Mágica. Located on the Isla de la Cartuja, in the very heart of Seville, with almost 30 attractions inside. Besides being able to enjoy water roller coasters, theater shows, carousels, interactive cinemas and a recreation room, among an infinite number of options, Isla Mágica brings history and culture to its visitors by dividing the park up into six zones that refer to each location in the world.

9) If, on the other hand, so much hustle and bustle is not your thing and you prefer to enjoy contemporary culture, a stop at the Cine Cervantes (Calle Amor de Dios, 33) is obligatory. When crossing the entrance doors, we will find ourselves in the hall of a theatrical building built in 1873 where the decorative style of the Second Empire is preserved. Inside the hall we can see that we are in an Amphitheatre’s armchair courtyard while, in the background, the film will be shown on what was once the stage. A novel and old way of enjoying cinema. Something that is only possible in the city of Seville.

10) We cannot forget the nightlife, something that, thanks to the spirit of its people and its good night climate, is one more piece of Sevillian life. There is a practically infinite catalogue in modern places where you can listen to music, bars where you can refresh yourself or venues with live shows. If you don't have a detailed guide, let yourself be dragged into the city centre and let the atmosphere immerse you until you enter the place where you can enjoy. If you prefer an orientation we can recommend Calle Betis, Cuesta del Rosario or Alameda de Sevilla itself.

Although we recommend these ten destinations and activities, which would be a sacrilege to miss during your stay in Seville, there are still many activities and visits in the inkwell. If all this is not enough for you and you want to make the most of Seville's capital, in Pancho Tours you can count on the help of tourist guides who know every fold of the city and who will undoubtedly open your eyes so that you can say that you got to know Seville fully.
